Why I started Kismet Design
In 2023, like you, I just wanted some nice furniture - Nice both inside and out. It was more problematic than I thought to find "quality".
So I started creating... and people started noticing!

My Journey with Kismet Design
Jan 2023
I (Ivan) quit my job to pursue woodworking. No Experience in making furniture or lamps (yet!)
But I loved vintage design with a passion.
Sept 2023
First big milestone!
Wasn't making much yet, but a video I posted on Instagram got 3 million views!
People started noticing my work.
May 2024
Finally was starting to see some progress with my lamps!
It wasn't consistent, but kept me motivated.
Lots of emails from people who loved the lamp they received kept me motivated.
June 2025
Kismet Design took off! We went from a team of 1 to 5! Growing fast and can't keep up with demand!
Today!
New Products in the work & growing steadily and saving up for a new workshop!
I'm proud to have built it all in Vancouver, Canada.
(We will never manufacture anywhere else)

3 years ago, I quit a decent job to make lamps. Most friends & family said ‘this is abad idea’.
But, I felt strongly about hand made furniture. I was tired of seeing the same IKEAdesigns and knockoffs everywhere, and I wanted to change that.
